2025/26 historical replay

Six managers. 36 clubs, six each, every one of them owned. A real UEFA Champions League 2025/26 replayed under the point system FootyPools uses today — and though the lead changed hands for the last time on matchday 6, the top two were still dead level with two stages to play.

  1. Matchday 6

    The last change of lead

    Signora Catenaccio took 13 out of matchday 6 and The Golden Boot took 4, and the lead turned over — by 8. Seven stages were still to play, and it never changed hands again.

  2. Matchday 8

    The table bonus lands

    The last matchday pays twice — the results, and then a bonus for where each club finished the 36-club table. Signora Catenaccio took 18 out of it and went into the knockout rounds a point in front.

  3. Quarter-finals

    No leader at all

    With two stages still to play the top two were dead level on 98. Four of the 13 stages finished with nothing between first and second.

The draft

Nobody knew what was coming

The board could not see the season it was about to replay. Clubs were ordered by their real seeding pot for that draw — recovered from the fixture list, which pins it exactly, because every club plays two opponents from each pot — and then by a coefficient-style score built only from the 2023/24 and 2024/25 Champions League seasons. Then a strict snake, 6 seats, 6 clubs each, nothing left over.

Pick 1

Real Madrid

The first name off the board went to The Gaffer, who finished 6th of 6. Real Madrid finished the league phase #9 and returned 20 points. The first pick is not the season.

Pick 10

Arsenal

The best club in the pool was still on the board in round 2. 42 points — league phase #1, then all the way to the final. Signora Catenaccio took them 10th overall and won the pool.

Pick 2

PSG

Champions of Europe, 34 points, and it was not enough: winning the whole thing pays 6, so Professor Pressing finished 3rd. A pool is won across a roster, not on one night.

League matches pay ordinary football points. The knockout rounds pay for getting through a tie, once, and the ladder grows with the round.

Every knockout round is two legs and one result, and only the result scores. Win the tie and the club banks the round's points, however the two legs went. Each round is worth more than the last, and a club keeps everything it banked before it went out.
